Where The Mind is Without Fear

Another favourite poem that I knew by heart till a few years ago. This one by Rabindranath Thakur.

Where the mind is without fear, and the head is held high.
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where worlds come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

When I was younger and less touched by the real world, this poem symbolised for me what I wanted to do, to be. I was delighted somewhere inside as I wrote it down now that, with a little prompting, I still remember it fully. I may not have been the man, atleast I remember what the man was.
