What’s your number?

I consider myself young, yet almost 40% of people on earth today were born after me :(

BBC has an interesting webpage where you put your date of birth in and it provides the population graph with your birth marked out. Some pretty sobering numbers are there, including good visualisations of:

  1. Global population growth (scary slope of that graph!)
  2. Country-wise growth rates and sources of growth (Immigration growth in rich countries and high birth rates in poor ones)
  3. Country-wise country+gender specific life expectancy (women live longer both in India and UK)
